I have been feeding my Springers Royal Canin dog food for over 20 years.

I remember paying $40 or so a bag years ago.

In October, it was $85 a bag, for 30 lbs. mind you, and I bought 3 bags due to some 5% off mumbo jumbo.

Welp, we are about to run out of dog food, and just checked. $99 a bag at Petco, Chewy, and Amazon. Up $15 since October.

I bought one bag, and now am going to consider alternatives. My dogs have done great on Royal Canin, and if the crazy increase is across all brands, I may stick with it.

But $100 a bag (and likely rising) is a bit much.

Rick,

Ditch that crap and buy real dog food. Fromm for starters . I started 2 Parson Russel terriers and a Bull Mastiff on it years ago and had absolutely no issues .

Other one I can recommend is Blue

I like Victor for my hunting dogs. They do really well on it. I supplement with deer, elk, antelope scraps, bones from processing

everyone has their favorites I guess. I think we're paying about $37 a bag for Kirkland brand which is supposedly made by Diamond pet foods. I think that is the same company that makes Blue

I want to make sure my dogs get something decent, but I don't think I could pay those prices you mentioned

Diamond makes a lot of dog food for other "brands". We had the Mastiff on it for a few years , his coat looks better with Fromm and he has zero health issues.

I am not buying it if Chicken,Beef or Lamb are not the first ingredient on the label and protein levels are correct, not a fan of grain free food either.

And yet the Dems will insist that inflation is running at 6-8%.....but a $15 increase on $85 works out to roughly 18% increase on my calculator......that seems to be about the norm for most food items we have seen, other than eggs....

I've noticed over the years that dogs will eat their poop if they are fed food with corn in it.

Just checked out Fromm.

$42 a bag for 15 lbs, so 84 for 30 lbs.

Better for sure, but certainly not inexpensive.

Inflation is about 8% , what they aren't telling is that the 8% is PER MONTH not per year.

Libby is almost 4 years old. She's the last dog I'll have. I'm 68---it hurts to much when they go.

we buy the salmon and sweet potato mix for ours. They seem to like it. In the mornings we give them a few spoonfuls of gravy mix canned food. A can will last us a 4 days

We picked up 2 Great Pyrenees puppies as livestock guardians about 5 Months ago. They are about 7 Months old now. My wife has been buying the puppy chow on her way home from work. I don't know how much a bag costs now and I don't think I'm going to ask.

Mostly Diamond Naturales, a farm store gift card knocks about 17 percent off a fifty dollar 40 pound bag.
