This is a custom made, Mark X action with 26" Douglas Premium barrel in 340 Wby. The stock was a Don Allen XXX California English walnut blank. It has been glass bedded, stock cross bolts installed, ebony forend tip, oil finished and checkered. I had it built in 1980 by a stockmarker (retired MSP trooper), in Michigan. It is in excellent condition. It shoots fantastic. I used it on one elk hunt Colorado in 1981. I also used it on whitetail deer and black bear here in Michigan. Has about 200 rounds fired through it. It has a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10-40 German #4, with Buehler rings and bases. Weighs about just over 9 pounds or so complete. I am turning 75 in July and getting to old too climb anymore mountains. My 270 weatherby mag is all I need anymore. I have pics available but the file is too large to download. If you text me at 248-880-7047 I will send them.

The LOP is 13 1/2 " Sakohunter 264, thank you for posting the pics for me....
My one son is left handed and he can't use it. My other son already claimed a bunch of my guns already and said the 340 will not be used. I got rid of most of my big bores i.e. , 458, 416, 300 mags. just keeping a 375, 9.3x62, 35 Whelen and use a lot of cast bullets in them. If you don't like the caliber, a new barrel could fitted and contoured to fit the stock by any decent gunsmith. Just a thought. Thanks for the nice replys

Dave Thompson....He was a MSP trooper and I met him when I was at Detroit PD. He did a lot of stock work for me, my brother and a bunch of my hunting buddies. Great guy...we downed a few Jacks in our time.

I wish I could justify it, but I have actually considered selling my Sako L61R 338 WM instead of adding another 338 bore to the pile. Good luck with your sale.
