Any opinions on Duramax generators?

Found an xp13000eh for what I think is a good price.

I don't know anything about generators though.

Get a Honda. I have a Duramax too and it is OK but not the durability of the Honda. Uses more oil and louder. Vibrates much more and uses more gas. I have posted on my old Honda running 17,000 hours before giving up the ghost. More expensive but worth it, IMO.

That's the one.

I believe this guy bought a truck load of them and has been selling them.

I have had a dual fuel for 10 years on my off-grid place and only run it on propane...fewer issues.

It has been great. It is a smaller model.

They work well. Have one. Their customer service is good and they have a 3 year warranty. Youre always gonna have the bunch that just says buy honda, but honda is so expensive they arent affordable for many. The duro runs on both gas or propane. I run mine on propane. So far so good. Reviews are mostly positive.

I'd rather have 2 of the Duromax gen sets than one Honda. Sometimes that is a cheaper route to take. Hondas are overpriced, but they are good units. I have a Westinghouse and a Champion and both have served me well for a fraction of the price of a Honda or Yamaha. Predators from Harbor Freight are a decent cheaper option. If you are running your house on a generator every day the more expensive ones may last longer, but for me, I just need some to get through some storm outages for a day or so.

That makes a lot of difference, if you seldom use a generator you can get by on the cheap.

If you use one all the time you could pay the additional costs of a good Honda with fuel savings alone not to even mention the long wear, long term dependability and noise factors.

A Hyundai or a Kia can get you back and forth to town if you don't drive very often too.

How often and how you use them makes a difference in what makes sense. I use mine every day so the Honda makes sense for me for the house and computers. The Duramax is used a fraction of the time to run saws and equipment at the barn and it does the job.

I should have noted that not everyone lives off grid. But I still prefer the Hondas for dependability. When you need the power, it is usually because food will spoil or the house needs heat, or water or light and so does everyone else in the area. You may not be able to go out and buy another one or get yours up and running (like what happened in Texas awhile back).

Pretty good, sounds like the 'musta been stolen' price.

I bought one very similar a few years back for $300.00.
It was a FEMA give-away, guy had never used it, never had oil in it.

It worked fine, burned a lot of fuel but took a beating going from construction site to construction site.

One positive thing about them, they don't seem to get targeted for theft like the Hondas do.

Honda generators and Yeti coolers seem to be stolen often.

I also have a small Predator I run on propane.

Will run all night for 3 nights on a 20 pounder.

Quiet and still will run a 70 pound jackhammer no problem. Mostly have it for running all the old guy CPAP in hunting camp. smile Quiet enough it does not disturb...or waste fuel.
