I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I've never seen that checkering pattern before, beautiful rifle.

No pics of buttplate/recoil pad. What stock alterations? Other than checkering? Thanks, Rick

One picture showed a recoil pad. It must be that I can't see out of one eye and I'm blind in the other. I can't see that elusive picture you see.

Vintage Pachmayer vented pad installed, LOP slightly over 13.25 measured to center of pad. I do not think it was reblued based on the sharp proof mark, clean flat edges and minimal wear on the hammer, lever and internals.
I was going to have it re stocked in fancy walnut but have decided to sell it to fund something else rather than invest more in it.
I will have some ammo and reloading components to sell- first opportunity at those will go to the buyer.
Thanks

Any firearm of that age with original bluing would have some purple coloring to it. Ask around, it is a fact.

I am no expert but I have several Winchester model 70s and a model 12 of similar vintage and NONE of them are purple and I know FOR CERTAIN that they were not reblued.
FWIW
