I've heard rumor drinking too much of that can cause one to vote for a Democrat... LOL!

The three best $20 Bourbons (IMHO) that you may or may not be able to find. The HH Green label is discontinued. I saw it coming and have several in the bunker. The Evan Williams is pretty much available anywhere and always a solid pour. The Willet's Old Bardstown is only available in KY and is my favorite of the three. As for the older Knob Creeks, this is the last older bottle I have on hand (14 year). Most of the store bottles only have the standard 9 year age statements. Most of the store picks will also show 9 years on the store pick label. These are always good bourbons for @ $60 store pick or not. They also have a 12 and 15 year, but those are only 100 proof. Good, but considering the price, I would stick with the 120 Single Barrel Select 9 year. This one is only available in Asia or the gift shop up in Louisville, and a really good pour, but is not cheap. I really need to get up there and grab another.

Angels envy worth drinking ? Tastes like soap to me, but have a bunch of people I know who like it a lot.

One of main reasons the wine barrel finished bourbons are so much “smoother” is because the wine barrel wood quality is much better. The air drying for wine barrel wood is minimum 24-36 months. Bourbon wood is dried in kiln oven, which leads to harsher tannin… there are some higher end bourbon producers now buying new wine quality wood oak barrels because the end product is so much better. International Stave air dries. I have had Some Buffalo Trace products with staves aged 3-4 years . I would say wine barrel finished bour are “smoother” because of the effects of the residual wine on the flavor of the bourbon. Not a big BH fan because of the low proof. Big fan of the single barrel 4 Roses EH Taylor Michters Russels reserve single barrels Got lucky and got a Stagg single barrel at retail last week - it is so good!

Tedthorn, and you other Blanton’s drinkers, what are you seeing for a local price? Last 2 bottles I’ve found were $150+ each but I’m closer to Canada than bourbon country. For that price I’m drinking something else.
Thanks.

There should be an internet rule that if you are going to have your picture taken with your hands contorted in some sort of "my nuts are in a vice" signal, you need to tell everybody what it means. Those particular hand signals mean "hey Pard, you're a Pard, I'm a Pard, we're all Pards. Let's Pard on".

Not meaning to knock you and just for the sake of discussion, but to me Maker's is just slightly above well liquor, best use is in mixed drinks. I don't care for the "normal" bottles of Buffalo Trace either.Oh no, I'm humiliated again !

I know some find it too sweet.
I like the long finish, though.

I think we were at our beach place when I excitedly bought it, the next day I went back and bought something different. Seems it had a strong 'smokey' flavor that I just didn't care for[going on memory]. But don't get me wrong, if someone pours me 3 fingers or offers to send a bottle I'd oblige them. Doubtful that I'll buy again though. For a tad less $ I'll grab Jefferson's Very Small or Knob Creek every time.

All that cheap stuff just seems headsy to me. All that "cheap stuff", is all over $45 a 26oz here, though !! Fucting government sin taxes ! Nearest town, has a population of about 6000, so tough to find better product here.
