This one appears to have been someone’s prized possession given it’s high remaining condition but well worn lower tang and receiver belly. Not too bad for 100 year old 22.

It’s a model 1890 special order in the semi-deluxe configuration.

If requested, the wood could be upgraded but this doesn’t appear to be. I haven’t yet disassembled it, but usually the upgraded wood guns have xx or xxx stamped into the side of the tang medal, which signifies the level of wood (x:fancy or xx:extra fancy).

The pistol grip checkering on this (and other semi-deluxes) doesn’t extend to the pistol grip cap like the deluxe models. Essentially the only difference between this one and a typical production 1890 is the pistol grip buttstock and the checkering.

For deluxe vs. semi-deluxe reference:

WOW! I am an fan of the Model 90/1890. Although I have but one, I love that darn thing. Those rifles are beautiful. Enjoy them. Quality of that level cannot be found anymore in new guns.
