Well to be honest... Harley's pretty much suck unless you are into over priced bikes that are not as good as competitors... Most of the people who love them want them only for the name and to be "in the club"... I have owned them for years and finally got tired of the wanna-bees and the over priced crap... left them behind and now ride a Honda... better bike and much nicer people who do not have the same old "I am such a tough guy" attitude Your opinion is yours but you are wrong in many ways. Honda? SAKO? Ha Ha Ha too funny. You always were and are a wannabee.

I'll take my Indian water cooled V-twin over the H-D sportster any day. Faster winding and no vibration. I think people will like the new H-Ds once they actually ride them.
Don't just be a survivor, be a competitor.

Owned a few Sportster"s never liked them. These were pre 1975 iron heads. If you built one quick they made OK bar hoppers.

When they ushered in the Square head/ Block heads it was the end of an era. The time was winding down from having to know how to build a motor/transmission and personally maintaining it. My 04 Heritage is trouble free. Change the fluids and spark plugs once a year and you are good. Sad times. Todays Bikers are truly wannabees compared to pre 1984. Instead of a lifestyle motorcycles have just become a trouble free toy.

My first street bike was a '79 sporty. Bought it around 1990.... I had a ton of fun on that bike! Wish I still had it! I had a 79 Sportster around the same time frame. Only Harley rider in my high school. Girls really dug it. That friggin bike changed my life and made me who I am today.

The Chinese have cloned the EVO Sportster, stormbreaker or something like that. Maybe the Mongols will ride them.

FXR/FXD or FLH bikes. Lumping an FXR in with an FXD isn’t necessarily accurate I know. The FXR was the best design Harley ever made. Sportsters are for women and children, soft tails are for dentists that trailer their bikes to Daytona and Sturgis.

About 50 years too late- - - - -noisy, uncomfortable, and a gas tank so small it can't put many miles down between fill ups. My full grown 97 EVO Soft Tail is a lot better bike. Ya, well I say phug everyone that doesn’t wear a sized 10.5 boot….

It would be interesting to hear how long it took & what gear/clothing changes you were able to pack along for a 7 day stay, in a campground of course. As no hard biker would stay in a motel.

While very uncomfortable, I rode my Sportster to Sturgis…983 miles there, about 1500 miles during the rally and another 983 back. I took my Dyna after that.

@#avoidance I’ve put more miles than most on 2 wheels. Most of them weren’t on Hardly’s either. A little over 125,000 miles on 4 different BMW R100GS/PD’s alone.

OK, we had a Ford Crown Vic with air shocks & a Harbor Freight trailer loaded with 2 old Shovels with apes that we wanted to get dynoed while we were there if we could get them started. A couple bar flies driving & navigating while us 2 greybeards sat in the back seat rollin numbers, sippin PBR's & thinkin bout how much we were going to party when we got there. A long trip.
