Just that.
.....it would go on a 44 mag lever rifle.

Probably a 50 yard parallax but not a big issue for a 44 mag chambered rifle. I’d think it would just come down to if it were rugged enough to withstand the recoil.

The scope is a Sightron rimfire.
I put it on my son's 22.
It's a real nice, clear, lightweight scope.

Heck, all but one of my rimfires are mounted with center fire scopes! I’m partial to having a 3x9 for Squirrel Hunting, and I’ve had a couple scopes that I swapped off off of deer rifles which found their way on to my .22s and .22 Mag. I can’t see why a rimefire glass wouldn’t work, but I would have questions regarding how long it’ll take the heavier recoil. I don’t know what a .44 has in foot pounds of free recoil from a .22, but I’d imagine it would eventually take its toll. 7mm

I recently mounted a Weaver 2-7X Rimfire on a Marlin 1894 32-20 and it works just fine out the 100 yards my range avails. Perfect fit in Talley LW lows and did not require any tweaking of the factory rear sight.

I keep hearing that a rimfire scope won't hold up on a centerfire but then others say that's not true, they're made just as strong as a centerfire scope, just a different parallax setting is all. So which is it?
I feel the need to swap a scope from my rimfire to my centerfire .303. Don't really want to buy a new scope just for this, so should I do it or not?? Don't need BS or speculation but some solid facts.

I was wondering the same thing…without sacrificing a scope in the process. I really like the little Bushnell 3x9x40 Rimfire DZ 22 illuminated reticle scope I have on my 10-22. Seriously thought about putting one on a “close range” deer rifle, but figured the recoil might kill it. Hmmm…🤔

The scope does not realize the difference - it is simply a matter of what provides the most desired result for the shooter.
Scopes break/fail every day. I would venture that most failures are not the result of centerfire properties affecting rimfire capabilities..

I have a 2-7 Leupold rimfire scope that I would use on such a rifle. I think it would withstand the recoil.

I would probably go for it on a light recoil hunting Rifle. I don’t think I would on anything more than say .30-30 recoil, and even then I wouldn’t figure on more than 20 or 30 rounds in a years time. After all, you’re never find the edge unless you seek it. 7mm

I have a 1-4 Leupold shotgun scope on a 44 carbine.
Works great. I’d bet the sightron would as well.

I recently put a Leupold VX Freedom 3-9x40 CDS scope on my Rem 541 T .22 rimfire rifle.
I have Leupold CDS scopes on several of my hunting rifles and I want to practice with my .22 RF on targets out to 200 yards.

Don't need BS or speculation but some solid facts. Lotta depends. Some rimfire scopes may be like their counterparts. In some cases that would make for a rimfire scope that was better than many centerfire examples. In others, just 2 pieces of schidt. Jim you have to decide between money, and what a failure costs? If it's for that ornery boy to play with, it won't matter much if it dies. If it costs him a deer? Or, let him shoot the heck out of it and it might prove itself. One thing the fancy $$$ equipment guys won't admit, nothing is failure proof. Some items just give you much better odds.
