I just picked up a .222 with a Valor post and crosshair scope on it. Any idea what they are. I am replacing it with a Burris variable.

My dad had one on his model 700 .243. It was a low dollar scope even by 1970s standards. It served him well however for the years he used it.

I've bought a few guns with Valor scopes on them and used the scopes for a while. They work fine and have decent optics. They are a common cheap scope on northern European guns. The scopes were made in Japan.

I dug out one of the Valor scopes I got on Husqvarna rifles I bought over the last few years. It's a 4X32, made in Japan. It's well made for a modest price scope. The clicks are positive and track perfectly, and the focus is smooth. There's no plastic, and I like the tapered reticle.

My father had a 03A3 sporterized late '60s. Scoped with a 3-9x Valor. Think I still have the scope. Somewhere. More or less equivalent to later Bushnell Banner line.
