Someone was asking me about this rifle. I want to see if you guys find all the faults I did. Here's where Pocono's eagle eyes will come in handy... It's described as, "very hard to find rifle in immaculate condition". What say you?

Pre 64 model 70 243

Give me the DOM, what rear sight it needs and everything else you see that is out of place. Thanks!!

well the standard length barrel has been cut down, so the front sites have been reworked. yes checkering and that grip cap?
IF that is a metal butt plate it's been cut down w/o widow peak...and there's more....

Forend appears to have been reshaped/reworked.

You guys are hitting on most of the stuff I saw. AK, good eye on the stock. That forend and also the actual shape of the stock itself does not seem right. I think when they ground off the checkering on the grip panel, they went after the rest of the stock as well. Just to confirm, what rear sight should it have? Thanks

That's good to know. I was wondering if it was a typo. Good clarification. Otherwise it would be exactly like handwerk described.

It might just be the camera angle, but the Monte Carlo doesn't look correct. The toe at the 'butt plate" looks thicker than it should. I believe that the stock has been shortened slightly. I'd like to have a standard .243, but not that one!

The standard sight for that rifle should be the Lyman 16B.

I thought it looked like someone sanded the curve out and installed a recoil pad then went back to hard butt plate installed straight. LOP would be correct but would be straight not curved.

This and some rifles like it on the internet is the reason why it's a good idea to ask questions before you buy. Some sellers don't know exactly what they have, and some may know, but act stupid. Buyer beware!! Thanks guys, your info helps greatly!!

That's a sweet rifle Rich. Why does it have a bandaid on it though?
