Been pretty crappy this morning.
Windy drizzle.
Been kinda crappy to make a thread in the drizzle prior to this.
But now the weather is breaking for the good.
Ain't heard but 1faint gobble to my south about 20 mins ago in the creekbed.
Which gives a little bit of hope after all this drizzle this morning.
Let everyone else hunt all those big fields with 18 plus inch winter wheat on em.
I have shot 3 birds out of this spot in 13 up in the northeast corner over the years.
No one pays attention to it.
Just a small isolated field to put the dekes out on and do some random calling every 30 45 mins.
Also can keep a eye on field behind me.
Basically at the spot with the red cross hairs on it in the 2nd picture.

Got a flat of mature pines to west and nw behind me.
Dead south to creek bed hard woods is about 300 yds.
Humvee obstacle course is to my east about 250 yds.

Probably ain't been in this spot in 3 or 4 yrs.

I would hunt those big fields but with them having tall winter wheat in em it is kinda fruitless to use dekes on em this year.

I aint heard a shot all morning.
Stay here till around noon and call it a day.

Good luck with em Ren. I got lucky yesterday and killed a pretty good one with a crossbow. Good story and pics to go with it but it’s gonna be a day or two. Gotta take care of unncasugga first.

Taxes???

Only owed 1118 above and beyond what was held out this year.
Usually it is 2500 to 3200 above and beyond.
Khanarella had alot of OT last yr and that got taxed alot.
BTDT prior to 2015 but in alot higher tax bracket jointly back then.

Gotta pay for them welfarites with the same right to vote, and all the world's bums coming thru the border.....
Oh and The Pray for Ukraine bulkschitt also...

Not hunting after noon sounds crazy. PA has or had some of the craziest laws. You couldn’t hunt on Sundays and couldn’t use a quad or sled to drag an ice shanty out to fish.

We can hunt sundays finally but no national forest

An older model Rhino .670 I had them custom mill, cost 125ish shipped about 7 yrs ago.
Had a .680 before that for hevi shot and TSS shells.
Those got way to expensive.

This .670 throws a really nice pattern with 3.5 # 6 Longbeards.
And good patterns with cheap rem nitro 3.5 # 5 for squirrels.

Pattern is in high 250,s in warmer weather.
Good enough without breaking the bank.
25 28 bucks for a box of 10 LB,s

Versus 45 to 50 plus for heavier than lead loads of 5 per box.
With Mag blend 5 6 7,s In the low 280,s
Nitro Rays 501L 4c 5c 7H load in the 320,s
Hevi 13 straight 7,s low 300,s

LB,s kill out to 57 yds per my longest shot with a 835.

My 935 is unblooded on Turkeys so far.

Looks pretty damn deadly

Our season now goes to late may.
They backed up start and end date 2 weeks.

Too many early season Tom's getting killed before hens even ready to breed.

Limits in TN been dropped to 2 only 1can be a Jake IIRC.

Both used to be 4, 3 to 5 years ago.
Used to be able to take doubles on FTCKY up until about 6 or 7 yrs ago.
That was always fun in various ways it could happen.

I kinda look at the season starting later and lower limits as a good thing, hopefully poult#,s will start growing this summer and have a dominoe effect next 2 to 4 yrs.

I hunted Yesterday morning and heard 2 literally a mile away. Had garden tiller work to do Yesterday evening. Shut the alarm off this morning and went back to sleep. At work on break now. Maybe try them again Tuesday. Good luck to everybody.

Lots of Toms died this weekend in TN. Started getting texts yesterday morning.

I love Lone Mtn. Claiborne County has a great population of turkeys. I built the golf clubhouse there. And hunt on his farms. He’s dead now, but his son and nephew control the land.
