It's already a banner year for mosquitoes and other biting inspects. I'm sure tick will be abundant this year. In the 2021-2022 season I got 1 tick. I don't feel I'll be as lucky this year.
I usually use Deep Wood Off. Will continue on areas around wrists, ankles, neck and ears where there's skin contact.
What's everyone using for a pyrethian. Repel I think it was?

Ditch the Off and Repel.
Get some Sawyers Permethrin. Other brands as well. Lasts for weeks and can last through a wash or 2.
Doesn't only repel bugs but kills them if they come into contact with with it.
Spray clothing and gear, not really for skin contact as my understanding is that once it contacts skin it becomes ineffective. Once I started using this I quit worrying nearly as much about mosquitoes and ticks. Especially when combined with a Thermacell for skeeters.

Sawyers Permethrin is the real deal, and that is coming from a guy who lives 20 mins from the town where Lyme disease started. Tick's are real bad here in Connecticut.

Another vote for the sawyer brand ODORLESS permethrin.
I've heard forestors putting dog tick collars on their boots with good results.
Other than that, How was the show Mrs. Lincoln?

Alrighty, then. I ordered the Sawyers Picaridin Insect Repellent for skin, and Permethrin Insect Repellent for clothing.

I wish I had read this thread before I went to MO for a trap/skeet fun shoot. I found 3 of them suckers on me. Got several bites. I wasn't even in the trees. Just the grass area around the skeet/trap range & around the clubhouse.

Ticks are definitely out in Northern Wisconsin!

I have been a big user of permanone/permethrin for well over 20 years.
Still amazed at how many hunters do not know about or use the stuff.
I think Coulsons or Colstons is the brand I started with way back. Get a tick crawling up your leg and as long as he contacted the treated areas of your clothes he will be dead in short order.

Thank you. I was one of the hunters that didn't know about this stuff and the ticks here in WV have been terrible the past couple years.

I have used Coleman, Coulstons/Colson, Sawyers. Even buy the concentrate at the animal supply house and spray the yard and gear with it. Not this big of a jug. https://www.amazon.com/9291072-Gord...;hvtargid=pla-4583726553563777&psc=1

I’ve been using SaverPack InsectGuard I bought from Amazon $43 a gallon. I spray anything I might wear during a season at the beginning so I can just grab something and go. I lay it on pretty thick. Haven’t found a single tick since I began using this or Sawyers. Really works. Whoever invented this stuff oughta get a medal.
What fresh Hell is this?

Early on in my turkey hunting career, I didn't need no stinkin tick spay anything!!! Young, dumb and full of...Lol! Well... fast forward a bunch of years... have tested positive for Lyme's 3 different times, had all the antibiotic regiments and then started using REPEL Tick Defense in one form or another. After reading this, I've ordered the Sawyers for clothing, skin and the lotion for skin. I tried a Rhino suit, but it was SO tight (how it keeps ticks out) and uncomfortable and hot, that I stopped wearing it. We did take pictures of us in our Rhino suits one year at turkey camp, but I'm pretty sure we've destroyed all prints and the negatives too! Haha! Anyway... keep safe out there and enjoy!

Lyme Disease is no joke. My "sewer man" had is so many times he has to wear metal braces on his knees. I've had it twice, last in 2016. The tick doesn't even need to hang on to transmit it. Just a bite will do it.

Man I have been lucky I guess, bitten more times than I can count but never got it. I try not to take chances anymore and spray down if I know I am going into the woods or fields.
