Season opened in WV yesterday morning will cooler than normal temps and winds blowing 20 mph to begin around 8:00AM. My oldest son and I heard 4-5 gobblers at daybreak and committed to the nearest one. At approximately 6:50AM, my oldest son anchored him at 60 yards shortly after coming off the roost. This morning, was my most memorable hunt ever. Oldest son and I took his Rhino about 3/4 of the way up the hill and parked. He made a couple soft yelps and two gobblers in close proximity answered. I said, "this is too easy, something will go wrong." As he sat-up a decoy in the middle of a haul road, I took my position on the uphill side of the road and a bird we didn't see, flew off the roost away from us. Regardless, he took up his position on the lower side of the road. After a couple yelps, I seen a head and neck above the crest of the bank ahead of me approximately 60 yards away. The bird was fixed on the decoy and I took the shot, rolling him into the road. As I jumped up to go get him, I heard my son shoot, nailing another gobbler, which I didn't see at the same distance. The hunt was over within 10-15 minutes. Birds 2 & 3 were down by 6:40AM. Never have I had a hunt end so quickly and never have we doubled-up. His bird had two beards, one at 10" and one at 11" (I'll get a picture of the beards posted later) 1.25" spurs. My bird had a 9" beard with 1" spurs. Congrats on some nice birds and a very quick hunt
I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects
I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Great hunt with your son. Quick and easy, big birds, and a nice day. Good day for the memory banks.
