Journeyman,

That's very cool. What a special gift.
I'd love to see pictures as well.

As to magnacut, I've got a Phil Wilson sprig with it that has just been exceptional. My only other knife wirh it is a mallard from north arm. I've been very pleased with it as well.

My impression on magnacut so far has been to expect about S35VN/S30v edge retention but with improved toughness, corrosion resistance and easier to sharpen with similar heat treats.

Very nice! That must be what he lists as his bird and trout? I see he uses the partial tang on most of his hunting line besides the one you have. I have always like that model the best because of the full tang design.

Darn, must have missed this zeroing on that awesome pic of your boy's turkey with your sprig... That's EXACTLY the feedback I was posting about before... thanks!!!

You bet Journeyman

I'd be curious to hear your take on Magnacut as well.

It just seems like a really balanced steel to me, I like it.

Got 2 more this week. Both Bark River which I have had HORRIBLE results with over the years; but thought that since Magnacut has properties to make it easier for the maker maybe even freakin' Bark River could get this one right...we'll see...

Convex ground?

I’ve got a few older barn rivers. Even a fallkniven f1 when BRK did those.

I just don’t like thick blades.

( side note…. Mile Miller can hollow grind the hell outta 3/32”. 😍)

If it is convex, how you think that’ll work with the Magnacut ?

My problems through the years with BRK have been exactly that. BRK's "convex grinds" are a slack belt profiling of a CNC flat from an outside vendor; basically a convex edge grind...BUT, they then as a last step use three progressions of polish wheel compounds to basically put an apex on their supposedly "convex grind!" I mean...seriously?

The reason I bought these two is:

1.) that the stock is way thinner than any others I've had. The little skinner is just under 1/8" and the boner 3/32"ish.

2.) My previous major problems with BRK have been [bleep] grinds and burned or overworked edges...I specifically requested the vendor to inspect these and they look pretty good.

3.) The apex grinds on these are basically like those on a flat.

4.) the Behind the Edge is HALF of some of my previous...and though still thick, easy to thin out;

5.) which I'll be doing, and comparing that edge to the factory...
