I was at a local gun store - one of the two where I like to shop. The people are nice and helpful, and you get a free t shirt with a gun purchase...

Lately, I've been building upon the 44 collection. They have quite a few to choose from: anaconda, several 629's, some 29's, some Redhawks, and a 5 1/2 inch BFR.

And, of course they have some very nice 357's from the same manufacturers and quite a few nice 1911's from Baer, Wilson, Colt, S&W. It's very hard to pass these guns and focus on my objective...

It's hard to make a selection...like why do I purchase this when I could've got that etc. After handling quite a few options...I now have...in my hands, a brand new BFR 44 mag with 5 1/2 inch barrel, white micarta grips on a bisley handle. She's going to get rung out this weekend and should be a fun addition to the safe and any future Hobbit-like journeys that I may have.

I feel like I'm 12 again.

I will post pic's later if anyone is interested.

Couple of quick pics from today, still haven't shot it yet. Will do so this weekend. I have some 44 russian, 44 special, 44 long colt, and 44 magnum to shoot.

The cylinder is recessed which is kind of cool. I have an old style vaquero in 44 magnum I will compare it to later.

And have ordered a simply rugged holster and belt...so i 4-6 weeks I can post some new pics in the new leather.

Nice revolver. That looks like one of Norm's holsters:

I have a few of his holsters and they are good.

You're right JGray, it's a Montana holster, purchased as recommended by this forum for my hoglegs. They are very well made.

I'm not saying it's correct, but Wikipedia says that the .44 Colt uses bullets with a diameter of 0.451". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.44_Colt

Is that true? If so, would you shoot that in a 0.429" barrel?

Heya, sorry was out and about...the newly loaded 44 colt is .429 ish. I have a box or two of loaded onesa and some brass from starline just because.
The old ones of western yore were heeled bullets and a lot bigger as per the wikipedia.

Yes it's a Busse battle mistress. I just used her to prop up the BFR, but they do go well together.
