Do you guys have a favorite powder for Barnes 62gr to 70gr TTSX and TSX bullets? Or a favorite 223 Rem powder in general?

Is Varget worth seeking out, you think or are plenty of powders as if not more accurate?

Rifle will be a Tikka T3x Lite 22.5". Primarily interested in the bullets above but always open to suggestion. Thinking deer rifle if it has to be. Nothing bigger really.

Can you find TAC for a powder??

Yes I can, 10gauge. I think I have a partial can in the cabinet to start development actually...but its pretty available.

Tac is a favorite of mine for that weight range of bullets and for the 223 in general

For those actually shooting critters with them, is it worth going with a 62gr TTSX over a TSX, or don't worry about it and just send er?

I never had an issue with the 62 tsx but if both were avaliable I'd probably go to the ttsx to insure expansion. I wouldn't stay home if all I had were 62 tsx. Catch some bone and they are nasty.

And you'll find you dont really need one as heavy as the 62 grainer. I prefer 55 TTSX...but they all work.

Just make sure they will stabilize in your twist rate. Even the 45grn tsx didn't shoot that well in my 1-12 twist 22-250, I moved on to nosler ballistic tip lead free. Varget, CFE223, H335, W748, BL-C2 should all work fine for you. I shoot 80grn TTSX in my 25-06 and they are absolute hammers, all the tsx bullets are a very robust bullet. Good luck.

EDIT- Looks like your twist rate is 1-8, you should be good to go.

Cant detect a difference in performance and yes, I like to keep the speed up. Speed is your freind in opening the monos.

Thought so! I had been wondering if the heavier ones track straighter through larger animals (within the deer realm)

A max load of Varget under a 62 gr TTSX shoots great in several 223 rifles I have. That load has also accounted for several deer and a truck load of hogs mostly from when my kids were younger.
