Great for deer sized critters on down. Great for old codgers like me with neck problems, too.

5 shots with the pre-64 Fwt on its first hunt with the new stock ended up rolling 5 hogs.

Mostly deer and woodchucks for me. I made my longest kill ever on a whitetail from 440 yards with a .243.

About 10 years ago I witnessed a friend’s daughter make a 1 shot kill with a 243 and 100 grain Hornady on a cow elk. Shot was about 90 yards with bullet passing very near to but not hitting the neck bone. Elk went right down without taking a step.

Me and my son only shot 3 whitetails with them. My son had a marginal shot. It was way forward and high. It was almost a neck shot. It went 50' .It was a real big doe and bullet used was Speer 100 gr. # 1220. My small doe went 50'? Bullet was a Horny 100 gr. #2453 boat tail. Both does were 50 yds away.A buck I shot was 20 yds . It went 100 ft. Bullet was Rem 100 gr coreloc

Just never found myself thinking I should grab the .243. In fairness, it's the same with the 250-3000 and 25-06. Any stunt shooters among us? LOL

What are you all doing with yours?
Now it’s time to start a thread about “what do you do with a hunting knife”?

Grew up in western Kansas in the 70s, a 243 was my first rifle. Shot a lot of ,prairie dogs, coyotes and deer with one. Someday I'll get another one

Blacktails and Coyotes.
I shot magnum rifles all my life.
Just got tired of the recoil and muzzle blast.
I love short action, low recoiling rifles.

Well, since you have an extra .243…you send one to JES and get it rebored to .358 Win, then enjoy how great it shoots and hammer stuff with it. 😎

Not a "243", but I've filled a couple freezers with a 6 mm rem. From elk to antelope.
