Never been much of a Leupold fan, and the one or two I have had over the years usually found a new owner. But curious if this new model of VX3 is any better or any different as far as internals and ability to dial/track/return to zero repeatedly.
The 4.5-14x40 30mm ZL CDS checks a lot of boxes for a hunting scope....(At least my intended purpose)

Out of my 3 Leupolds the 4.5x14x40 LR leupold is my least favorite.....

I agree with Ackley. The eye is on the 4.5-14 Leupolds had always been finicky to me.

I just picked up one from Doug with the B&C. Have only made one trip to the range so far, but so for all adjustments have been spot on. Have not used the CDS yet

Mine has an M1 turret that gets quite a bit of spinning and has always seemed accurate in the adjustments and RTZ, but the eye box has always been a shortcoming!

The eye box on the 4.5-14x40 with a 1” tube was bad. Especially across the magnification range. If you were set up with the correct eye relief at 4.5x is didn’t work at 14x and visa-versa.
The side focus 30mm version is not that bad.

How bout the 3.5-10x40 - better eye box? Not sure on the new models but the older ones had a very nice eyebox in my opinion!

I’m trying to win an auction for a 3.5-10x40 ZL cds. Would go on a Tikka Superlite 6.5

I have been using older Leupold CDS scopes for years and they never failed me, my question is what other manufacturer offers some kind of dial system without having to go to Kenton Industries for a custom dial, I'm looking for another scope but don't care for new Leupolds.

Well I have a brand new 3.5-10x CDS ZL coming…won the auction for $380…will mount it up on the tikka and run it thru the paces…haven’t bought the rings and bases yet but probably will stick with a pic base and an alloy low ring of some type
