I have a Rock Island Armory 1911. Very accurate, with an excellent trigger. The only problem is that three of the four grip screws (2 per side) will not tighten up. In removing the grips, the grip screw anchors are simply spinning in place. What's the fix?

TIA.

Original specs called for the grip screw bushings to be staked in place. If they turn, and they will, they screw up the frame threads. Brownells sells a oversized tap and bushings set that will correct things. You may have to drill out the old bushings.

Blue Loctite the new, oversized bushings in place.

Some companies have gotten away from the staking deal for this reason.

Good luck!

Be cautious.
Some foreign 1911s use metric threads in the frame,
