What are you using? They did a number on my roses. I know about spraying for grubs, but what about a surface attack? Want something I can spray in addition to the bag traps.

Good question. I put down grub control today but I still get them. My back yard backs up to a field. My tomato plants and rose bushes are all at the back end of the back yard and get Japanese Beetles. I spray them with a generic bug spray that is vegetable safe. It keeps them under control but doesn’t completely control them.

I know a couple things that work if you know a farmer to help you get it. Malathion works somewhat as a knockdown but need some residual

My grandfather used to go out to the rose bushes every morning and just knock the Japanese Beetles off into a round Half and Half Tobacco can half filled with water, worked like a charm and after a while the population was kind-of decimated. 65 or so years ago, remember it like it was yesterday. Things were so much simpler then..

This^^^.

I’d say it works for the better part of a decade in our area, but for that period it works really well. Treated in 2013 and started having Jap beetle sightings in 2021 and more last year.

Skunk works great for us. We have one around all year and it is out every night getting grubs in the yard. We haven't had many Japanese beetles or June bugs for several years.

Yeah, no dog. It is amazing the neat little holes in the yard, you really can hardly tell they are there.

Supposedly planting onions, garlic, catnip, or marigolds between garden plants will repel them. We don't have them here so I haven't tried any of those.

I kill them by treating my lawn with grub control. I hardly get them anymore and then I feed my Roses Bayer Rose and Insect control for any stragglers.

I have idiots in my neighborhood putting up Japanese beetle traps near their flowers. SMFH

I have never tried Milky spore but hear it works pretty well.

Sevin spray has worked for me.

My problem has been drastically reduced since my neighbor decided to start spraying for them. This guy treated his yard like a naturalist, then he and his wife planted rose bushes. They ate them up two summers ago and he finally got on board with spraying for them.

Pick them twice a day as soon as they show up. Feed to chickens immediately. Keep doing so for a couple weeks. They tend to attract each other so if I pick daily for a couple weeks, by then they have swarmed somewhere else.
