I've seen them in the woods since I was just a childen. Always heard they were ok to eat but never bothered. Picked a bag full of.young, tender specimens yesterday while hunting for morels. Cooked them up today. I regret passing them over all those years. Pan fried with egg, flour, salt and pepper is dang good. Sauteed in butter with ramps, teriyaki and fresh ginger over rice is spectacular!

Sorry, no pics. They gone. Lol. I've never tried these. They are all over around here. No morels though. I think I'm going to harvest some tomorrow

Pheasant Back. I found a dead tree that was literally full of them a few weeks ago while turkey hunting. I will eat morels, but nothing else in the way of the wild mushrooms.

I like mushrooms, I'm not smart enough to pick them wild.

I have a friend that swears by those.
I haven't looked into them enough. I have to know a mushroom and it's imitators inside-out before I'll touch them.
I do like morels and giant puffballs.

I never got used to eating them, I think they taste like their namesake ! Get them young enough and saute them many find them favorable. We have so many good mushrooms available, I pass on DS!
