It goes with the sleeve tattoos, large beard and high fade hairstyle. LOL. Yep, it's "tactical".

Makes changing te color easier if they're just bench shooters. Wrap the scope, spray it down with whatever color you like if you don't want permanent change.

Back when I was even poorer than I am now, I used a lot of steel Weavers, which fogged a lot. Why fight it? I filled the Weavers with good clear water...no more internal fogging....but being Weavers, I had to refill them occasionally because of course, they leaked. So I would wrap them with tape, which slowed the leak considerably, and to this day, I see guys copying my fix...but I don't think they know why. I notice Big Stick uses a lot of tape, which I find very flattering. How did you get all the little bubbles out? 😂

Navel pilot, I cleverly used to leave a nice bubble in there deliberately to serve as a turn and bank indicator (in your world). Several manufacturers have peddled cheap awkward copies of my concept, marketing them as external plumb bubble devices...I thought about suing for patent infringement but was never able to afford legal counsel. Sigh, doomed to mediocrity.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

It's the same stuff the hospital uses to secure the cotton ball after they take blood. I keep a couple rolls in the 1'st aid kit, but only in brown. It comes in all kinds of pretty colors from the vet supply store. (and much less expensive) What's the color of your gay today. Heck, one could work out the whole rainbow if one were properly motivated.

Next time I am at the range, will tie a pink ribbon around the end of my barrel.
Some guy will scratch his head, go home and post on CF "why are shooters tying pink ribbons on their barrels?"
Should be good for another 10 page thread .......

It's to keep the really expensive scopes from getting scratched and dinged. Vetwrap 3M is the most common used.

Not reading thru all the horse crap to see if you got a decent answer or not. But I shoot a lot of PRS and the original reason people wrapped them was to protect there very expensive scopes from the dings and dents from the barricades that we use during competition. Anything from rocks, tires, steel gates, hay rings, old cars and farm equipment. Some match directors like to make you shoot thru small holes and in the heat of competition on the clock and time running out those same guys that treat there guns so delicately at the range practicing will beat and bang them and not think twice. There is also a lot of monkey see monkey do in this sport. If Joe Bob does it to his rifle next week Billy Ray and Tommy do it to there's. Just like what happens on the forums here. Some of these scopes they are using now cost over $5000.00 and you can use them for a season and get damn near what you paid for them if they arent beat up to badly.
I've always been different with one foot over the line.....

I suspect it is compensation for having a kid with an IQ of 67 and a wife who went heals up with the bartender.
Quit giving in inch by inch then looking back to lament the mile behind ya and wonder how to preserve those few feet left in front of ya. They'll never stop until they're stopped. That's a fact.

Should be good for another 10 page thread ....... I do that to get keep a clue as to wind speed and direction and when dumbasses ask what it's for, i tell them it's to remind me to buy bread on my way home.
