I would like to find out what kind of trajectory or bullet drop You could expect from a 7MM STW using Rem. Factory 140gr Ammo with the Rifle sighted in at 100 yds. 2" high.. It is a Win. mdl. 70 Composite stock and has a Springfield Armory Variable AO Scope with turret adjustments . The Rifle will be used in New Mexico for Elk Hunting. and does it shoot . I was really impressed and the recoil was not at all what I expected . It belongs to a friend of mine and I'm just trying to get this information for him . Thanks Navarro

The following Remington site has a 250 yard zero which puts 2" high at 100 yards.
http://www.remington.com/Ammo/ballistics/center/7mstwbal.htm

For deer sized game, I would sight for a 3" point blank range (no more than 3" high or low out to that range) which would be 2.4" (2.5" is close enough) high at 100 yards for a 3" point blank range of about 319 yards.
Remington 140gr Pointed Soft Point Core Lokt R7MSTW1
Ballistic Coefficient: .39 Bullet Diameter: .284 in. Navarro. I hate to pop your bubble, but that's a lousy bullet in that application. It was designed for the 7-08, not the 7 STW. Against anything, your looking at very rapid expansion, and shallow penetration.
This is not theory. I had a 140 Sierra bullet come apart on a small deer many years ago. The range was 300 yds. The muzzle velocity was about 3250 fps.
Suggest your switch to a premium for elk. Either the Swift-A-Frame, or the Federal Throphy Bonded. The Nosler Partition is another, 2nd, choice. E

For the Remington Swift A-Frame load sighting in 3" high at 300 yards would still be appropriate for elk.
7mm STW Remington 140gr Swift-A-Frame RS7MSTWA
Ballistic Coefficient: .335 Bullet Diameter: .284 in.
