Winchester 42, .410, 3", plain full choke barrel, 27". #145945. Has had a total restoration and then shot more afterwards. Barrel was replaced by Winchester because it was "shot out." Original stock was cut down (comes with the gun, original butt plate, too) and then replaced with non-factory stock. Corncob fore end wood. There is blue wear on sharp edges and a scratch on the side of the receiver. Please see pictures. I was under the impression the corncob forend was the earlier one.

The stock on the gun looks more like original-from the pistol grip configuration. At least compared to my 1948 68XXX.

I was under the impression the corncob forend was the earlier one. I have no idea what this looked like coming out of the factory, but you are correct about corncobs being first. Thanks for looking.
