....and I'm stumped. Shot my AR pistol for the first time yesterday. I loaded up some 30 rounders that my brother gave me. Started out good but then they wouldn't feed. My buddy shot them out of his carbine and no problems. I grabbed his mags and my AR ran perfectly.
Mags? I need to get out and shoot my known mags that work but it has me stumped

Could be a combination of factors.
If: Your gun is over gassed and the bolt is moving too fast. His gun is gassed properly with appropriate bolt speed. Your mags have weak mag springs. His mags have stronger mag springs.
Those things could produce what you’re seeing.
your flippant remarks which you so adeptly sling

What Blue said is applicable, depending on what is really happening.......................what do you mean by "won't feed"...............need more description.
Will the bolts literally not push rounds from the mag? Does the bolt just slide over the top round? Does it push fully or partially push rounds from the mag but they don't chamber correctly?

Bolt just locks back like it's an empty mag. I'm leaning towards the magazine since my friends ran good. About to run to property with known mags to see how it runs

Will it feed the top round when you charge the rifle?
If not, try reducing the number of rounds in the mag.
But it does sound like a mag problem, but timing problems can be hard to pinpoint what's causing the timing problem................usually overgassed though.

Just ran 3 of my 20 rounders through that I know work. No issues. Hoping it was just the mags

Mags are such a PITA. I've yet to have an issue with brownells GI type 20 rd AL mags and 20s are about all we use for the most part.
30 round get pickier from our days of shooting lots of NTIT matches. And plastic 30s... IIRC we have some magpul 30s that have been fine. But had to cull through our pickup GI 30 round AL mags to make sure they would function.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....
