So I recently got my 1st E-tip bullets for my 260 rem. Got some preliminary testing done today, and Nosler's max load of 45 grains 760 lit by CCI 200 primers put 4 shots into .9 inches at 100 yards with a velocity of 3028. I think I can work with that, goal is to get a good load and redeem my CDs for my vx3i and have this as my 0-500 yd deer load.

Win 760/H414 have always been capable of more than acceptable accuracy with 120's in my 260's. I have found H4831SC more accurate along with H4350. I'm not surprised 760 gets better velocity.
What COAL did you start at with the ETIP. 500 on game is beyond my comfort zone with the 260 rem there maybe some other bullets out there that may extend my comfort level. Please post your hunting results.
I started .050 off the lands. I will have to check COAL, I measure with a comparator and that was 2.260

With that starting velocity I should still be at 2100 fps or so at 500 yards

I checked and I was surprised it sounds like 2100 is about right. The guys below were still getting 1.7 % expansion with the 120 at 500 in water with the Creedmore at 2900+.
You may be on to something expected expansion might be about double at 500. I have tried quite a few bullets on game with my 260's over the years never out to 500 though. Last year I loaded 50 100 grain TTSX over RL15 figuring they may be the new whitetail magic and I spent almost the entire 4 months bowhunting. Didn't shoot a deer with a rifle the whole season. I was using a new to me Mathews V3 and really enjoying it. I purchased a new to me Kimber Montana in 260 that I need to pick up and put together before the season this year. Been hunting with a 260 for 20 years now I'm a 260 loony as MD would say.
Funny, that was one video that persuaded me that they are worth a look along with the one linked below. Skip to the section on the E-tip(around the 2:40 mark) and listen to the measurements of the permanent wound cavity even at 2050 fps or so. Between these 2 videos I decided they are worth a try, especially since SPS has some for 30 bucks per 50 which sure beats the Barnes in price. 6.5 test

I also have been hunting with the 260 for 20 years! Got the gun in 2003, didn't handload until 2012 so I shot plenty of factory ammo to start with. But I find that it is a wonderful round for deer, and I do not feel under gunned with it at all!

Good luck and shoot straight y'all
Checked the COAL today. 2.770 exactly the same the Nosler manual shows with the E-Tip!
