My best load with the .300 Savage specific SST is 40.5 grains of 4320 over a CCI 200 primer. I don't have a chrono but it shoots tight groups with no pressure signs. I'm sure 4895 or 4064 will work just as well since 4320 has been discontinued.
On game performance has been excellent on at least 20 animals. Mostly feral hogs with a few whitetail mixed in. From what I have seen they perform about the same as the standard Horn 150 IL on game but group tighter in my 57 F . Good bullets when you can find them.
Hello, I just received an email reply from Hornady in response to my query about the availability of their SST 150 grain 300 Savage cartridges. Their production schedule is driven in large part by their order and back order demand. I was advised to get my order included in a retailer back order. Tom
I found some 150 gr Hornady SST Savage bullets and Jerseyboy kindly gave me some load info that worked for him. I have several pounds of CFE-223 powder so I’m going to start there and see if I can get it to shoot as well as their loaded ammunition. Since my 99 has a tang sight petty much anything that will reliably group at an inch and a half is fine with me.
