RUMs are like woman in Stiletto heals, you know they are going to put you in the poor house, but that has never stopped anyone from pursuing them.
Smaller in size, but a 223 and a field FULL of sage rats, has to be more fun...
ya know how to do it, you can really produce 'red mist', and send the little suckers "Airborne" in pieces..
Half going 10 yds one way, and the other half 10 yds another way.
Yet they are plentiful enough, I've shot from 500 to 700 in an afternoon, in say 5 or 6 hours...with a bolt action rifle and single feeding it one shot at a time...
and a little extra fun.. on an irrigation wheel or two, you attract 5 or more bald eagles sitting and waiting for the time you start shooting in the opposite direction and they drop down to have lunch on all the carcasses and carnage you left for them.
Deer hunting is a little boring, after experiencing that over the spring and summer...
In the past, shooting 5000 plus in a season is pretty common... and the farmers are glad to see ya...and there is no charge for the opportunity...

No that is one of Richard Franklin hunting videos, He has several of them and is a master gunsmith who specializes in Hi velocity varmint shooting.

Nope My main concern is Red Mist and acrobatic flips I kinda have grown fond of the 4moa of drop at 500 yards. I shot a coyote once he was pretty far out "several hundreds yards" I did not have time to range him so I put the horizontal retical even with the spine, after I shot him and walked up to him the whole stomach area was totaly gutted it took a moment to realize what I was looking at I had never seen anything like it.
Here are a couple of 5000 FPS tools of the trade. For those of you that there eye sight is not as sharp as it use to be, the stamping says 22-06 AI a 12 and a 14 twist both 30 Inches long.

That looks like a good time. We used to load 40 grain bullets in a 22-250 and video head shots on snowshoe hares. Frame by frame advance was interesting.
A long long time ago I bought this barrel with a certain caliber because it was all the rage and it was hip and trendy. Well I looked at the size of the brass and it's case capacity, and said to myself how the hell am I going to get any speed out of this itty bitty thing it holds just a little more than a 223. Anyways the next day a package came from PTG that I had forgotten about since it was backorder for so long, and said to myself this is no coincidence so I sent my new barrel and new reamer to the gunsmith and told him that I wanted him to rechamber it. He thought I was nuts I said that's beside the point, look it is already profiled crowned and threaded so just stick the reamer where the sun don't shine on this barrel and I will be a happy camper. He called me and asked what I wanted to do with the lazer etching on the barrel I said leave it there or no one will believe me. I crack up every time I think about it. This is they end result.
PS: For those that are not familiar with this caliber a 6mm Mach IV is a 257 WBY necked down to 6mm or 243.
