I have one of those. It's a great shooter, loves the heavy 180 gr. loads. I vote, shoot it! That is what it was made for, have fun with it.

I’ve got several I’ve never shot. Most have duplicates. If I ever wear out its twin. It will be next up to the plate. Hasbeen.

Never buy LNIB pre-lock, pre-MIM, firing pin on hammer S&W revolvers to shoot, potential money loss is usually up to half purchase price. If one is into .357 S&W revolvers the grail is 686-4 from ca.1996. What you have shown is actually .38 Special with .357 chambers and a heavy barrel. Just wait, Mr. Boomer will be along shortly to tell you Mr. Jordan intended it that way so an officer could practice with .38s and duty carry .357, just like Argentinian .45 ACP service pistols where made from plate armor of Admiral Graf Spee. Do you even own a gun?

Original box, paperwork, and cleaning kit (the latter still in its factory sealed plastic bag). I don't think I got it for a bargain price by any stretch, but just couldn't leave it at the pawn shop (He actually dropped the tagged price by $95.00 to make the sale). I'm sure I could have saved a few hundred dollars if it didn't include the original box, paperwork, and cleaning kit (what the hell do I need those for?), and I didn't really need it to be a factory new gun (which added a few hundred to the price, too). I'd have been nearly as happy with the same gun with some honest holster wear on it at a good bit less cost. But, what the hell, no regrets, right?Congrats, very nice and right, no regrets!

Nice find. Shoot and enjoy it, TRH.
If we live long enough, we all have regrets. But the ones that nag at us the most are the ones in which we know we had a choice.

Shoot it and enjoy it. It'll give the next person that owns it something to complain about.

Nice find. Shoot and enjoy it, TRH. Thanks to the three of you, and the rest. Yeah, I think I'm gonna shoot it. Can't imagine having it and not shooting it.

Shoot it and enjoy it. It'll give the next person that owns it something to complain about. Many many years from today, when I'm dying in my bed, would I be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here to this day and shoot that gun? Here's where William Wallace shouts something in Gaelic and the crowd roars.

As far as 357’s, I have two pinned and recessed 19’s. One not pinned and recessed.
I shoot the 19 no dash the most.
I like my 586 a little more than my 28.
But I really like them all.
In my opinion S&W’s are better than the snake revolvers.
I’ve been looking at 27’s and light concealable S&W 357’s.
I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

Smith & Wesson needlessly damaged themselves when they started putting those damned key locks on all of their revolvers. Hugely unpopular with their customer base.

The 6" patridge sighted 19 was my first NIB DA revolver. I still have it. Mine is a dash 6.. I carried and shot it a lot when I was younger. Although not with the bulky target stocks.
A few years ago I picked up a 4" dash 3 and got a nice holster for discreet carry. It has the front ramp.
The 19 is a gun that kind of defies my ability to describe it's charm. I use mine with moderate ammunition, but I don't feel compromised at all with it.
The snub nosed round butt would be a treasure to coveat.

The snub nosed round butt would be a treasure to coveat. Yeah, those are old school cool. I bought this one almost ten years ago, I think. Also 1970s manufacture.

Taurus did away with the lock to save money. Couple other things S&W could learn from Taurus provide optic friendly revolvers and use target style trigger or wider trigger (smooth instead of grooved) which would make trigger pull seem lighter than it actually is.

Now comes that ancient conundrum: Do I shoot it? I believe you asked me the same question about a 6" NIB nickel Python I bought a couple of years back Gainsville Pawn Shop perhaps? What did you end up doing? He made me an offer I couldn't refuse

I'm still looking for a 4" model 19. LGS has a 27 3" for $1300 I have been looking at. Don't know if I want a 357 with that short of barrel.
