would anyone have loads for the .260 with 140's they would share? I've got a 95 gr. V-max load that will shoot under 1" for varmits, but need some "pet loads" for 140 gr. deer loads. would also be intrested in 120 loads. I'm shooting a Rem 700 mtn. rifle. Thanks in advance, vbshootinrange.

Friends here, are shooting those 95gr V-Maxs on Deer, with great success. Though not touted as a game bullet, they are of much more rugged construction than an equal weight Ballistic Tip. I shoot the 75's in my 25-284's and they work exceptionally well on Deer...........

I'd be headed towards Sutherlin, with the Mountain Rifle in one hand and a Deer Call in the other. Biggest Blacktail Bucks I ever saw in Oregon, were between Sutherlin and Tyee. Second biggest, towards Tiller.I've zero doubt in the 95's abilities,to make short work of one of them.
I might be in your neighborhood this Winter,if so I'll drop you an Email,or leave a message here. Maybe we can go burn some powder?..........

Stick; would be nice to meet you and maybe get to burn some powder. I've got a 100 yd. range and a covered shootin bench on the place. If you might get to the Eugene area, post me an E mail. It would be a pleasure to meet someone even more enthused with guns, than me. good shootin, vbshootinrange...

Sounds like a date. Hopefully by then, you'll have a fresh Big Buck story to tell me.
Good luck this season and if you do smack a Buck with the 95gr,please comment on your thoughts,in their regard..........

95 gr V-Max's on deer?
Guess one learns things everyday...
Instead of looking to 140 gr bullets...how about striking the middle?
Try a Hornady 129 gr Sp on 47.5 gr load of RL 19. Load's been giving me MOA results on paper, and it's supposed to be dynamite on deer. I'll know more later, as this is my first year to use it for deer, but others I know of said it takes them down good.
TXLoader

I have just recently started loading for the 260.My 140 grain load is 45 grains of Reloader 19 powder,140 grain partition bullet,Remington brass and CCI primer. This load is very accurate, but I have not used it on a deer yet.I am also working up a load for the 120 grain Ballistic Tips using reloader 19.

vb,
I started handloading this past summer and my best load so far is using Hornady 129 gr Interlocks over 30.5 grs IMR 3031 with WLR primers. I intend to keep working on it as I've been averaging a little over 1" groups so far. That deer I got a couple of weeks ago didn't know the difference though. These were fired from a Ruger M77 MK II Stainless/synthetic with a 4X scope.
Dave
