I cut fence off a foot because I caught a deer last season. The pen is 6 years old, only one I’ve ever caught in it. I had a couple climb over and a couple get the gate open. I hope I’ve fixed those problems too. I made a place I can take out that is 34” so deer can get in easily, can put small piece in when I want to trap pigs. Some pigs may jump it now, but don’t want to catch another deer. I was thankful it was deer season, poor doe killed herself before I could get gate open. I tagged and cleaned her. I felt bad. I fixed it so I can lock it open. Some of the other clowns were using my pen, jacking up trigger cable, not bothering to tell me. Gonna put a tripod by it to bow hunt

Many hoglets have no trouble clearing 34" hog panel. Caught this one in mid flight at six yds. or so..... ya! GWB

I’ve seen quit a few go over a 4 foot fence, a few have caught legs in the fence.

This is a 34” pen I’ve added on on to get to 4 foot.

Its funny, but I've not had hogs climb/jump into a 34" pen. But many seem to be able to get out.
I've also learned that round pens are better for containing hogs than square or rectangular pens. They seem to go for the 90 degree corners to climb out.
ya!

It’s best to park a good ways away, walk up on pen down wind if possible. Might be a momma pig outside of the pen.

I’ve built a few. 4x4x8. Easy math on the materials. Less waste.
MS requires open top so deer can escape.
I wanna build a big round pen.
Goat panels prolly high as giraffe puzzy now days.

Goat panels prolly high as giraffe puzzy now days. Not super bad Big Dave. Can you use drive posts?? The 4” sq panels that are 16’x50” high are 84 bucks. I’ve had young pigs jump and hit the 6” sq holes, wiggle through. The 4” sq are best, nothing gets out of it, but I’ve caught many, many in the hog panel trap pens. It sure is fun!!!!! temporary image hosting

I had this pen in east Texas, takes plenty of drive posts driven deep to keep them from lifting it up

Best thing about pig panels is mobility, took pen apart, had it on trailer and tied down in 15 minutes. I can set it up in about that long with trip cable ready to go. I’m gonna rework feeders next, make tripods to hang them, going back weekend after next, want to set it all back up, be done with it.

This pen is 34”, have caught more in this pen than any other, probably a dozen have jumped out through the years. I try to park a good distance away, ease up down wind on this pen. Trap gate is 4’ high. Built that feeder in 82 or 83. I had 3 of them at one time.

Got deer feeders reworked also. All are tripod feeders now, put solar panels on them too. No more climbing up a ladder to fill the damn things. Gonna go to lease early tomorrow.

Looks good.
Day at the lease sure beats a day at work.
