I ordered the ETR, the BTR goes for about $300 less retail price. They're both awesome, but this glass is better than the BTR I've used.

The Helos is great for hunting, but the glass difference compared to more expensive scopes is noticable to me, especially past 800

The whole shoot, measure with reticle how far down and left you are, dial, shoot again, and, bam, zero'd nuts-on thing made it less traumatic though.

You'll notice how they tout the glass in the description of the ETR series on their website as their UHD glass like the Cronus line, and don't on the BTR, which has (really good) HD glass. That's the price difference, not the reticle.

4.5x27. I personally don't use 34mm tubes which is why I use this over the ETR. It's on my CTR 6.5CM that I fool around with dialing and whacking pigs mostly. I've culled a few whitetail does with it as well.

That and the 34mm vs 30mm tube on the BTR. My son has the Cronus on his CTR 260Rem. It's fantastic all the way around.

How easy is it to get behind in prone or "odd" positions? Pretty forgiving eye box, or no? I've only looked through the 2.5-15, and a friend was asking about the 4.5-27 and I've never looked through one. He likes the higher top end magnification.

Yes. 34mm tube on the Ares ETR line, including the 1-10x LPVO

30mm tubes give me all the adjustment I'm interested in, that's all. That BTR is a bit finicky at max mags, like lots of scopes are. I don't really need 27x, but the view at 22-24x is quite nice and easy to use so that's about where it maxes out for me. As long as I can kill what I'm shooting at, at the magnification I need, I don't sweat it too much.

Yeah, and, it's been my experience that some higher mag scopes have a great eye box at, say 18x (on a scope with a 25-30x top end) compared to a scope maxed at 18x.

My buddy does the prairie dog thing a lot more than I do, and I think he considers a 6-30x "lower power" these days.....
