Early April me, son, daughter were driving slow on dirt road in Mohave Co. Arizona. Windows were open and both kids said they heard a snake rattle.
Stopped, backed up some, and there it was, rattle snake on edge of road. I didn't hear a thing.

Ive seen hundreds.
Used to have a mayonnaise jar full of rattles.
I've only seen one act aggressively.
I don't like when I startle one that I didn't see, but I'm not afraid of them.
I let them be if they're away from the house.
Many people get bit messing with them.

I have no idea. Weather had been mid 70's for several days. Desert had lots of moisture end of winter and spring, everything blooming. Area was just east of I40.

I take “point” in a spot that contains a huge generational bear den because it is one place that always gets my hair up. One day going in after the big boy my wife was behind me on the trail when we got to a giant hornets nest in the trail so I went around it at the Y. Two steps in and a rattlesnake crossed right over my right boot. We were both startled but I jumped so high that my wife swore I levitated until it passed….I believe her. I think I got several minutes of air time. 😀
