and

https://www.lhs-germany.de/en/powder/smokeless-powder/vectan/tubal-7000/

This data seems pretty conservative but I'm getting a solid 2,700 fps with the max charge in a couple of 30-06s with 180-grain bullets. Still working on accuracy. Right now it's holding 1.25 MOA in two rifles using the Hornady 180-grain boat-tail.

Okie John

I also bought some TU-7000, I wonder what data you finally settled on?
I used 56 grains under a 180-grain Hornady flat-based spitzer for about 2,689 fps. That combination is about as old-school as you can go while still using smokeless powder but I killed a smallish black bear with it with one shot at 353 yards.

I'd buy more of that powder if I could find it. I used a max load and I'd really like to find data that pushes it harder than I did, but all of the data I could find was pretty conservative.

It was my intent to acquire some 180 and 220 grain round nose bullets to try. It's not likely to happen with availability what it is.
Last night I bought 500 Hornady eldx 178 grain bullets. Those will replace the 180 spire points I had in my stash. Hopefully they will.prove satisfactory.

I also have a can of imr4831 and 2 cans of Superformance I bought during the dry spell. Those should work well.

• 61.0 grains/168-grain Barnes TSX at 2,930 fps

All three loads used Remington brass and Winchester Large Rifle primers.

Okie John

I just put together a load using Ramshot Hunter, 58 grains under a 180 grain Barnes TSX and TTSX and both loads were 1 inch out of two different .30-06s that I have. Going to try the same load with some less expensive Hornady 180gr Interlocs

Going to try some H4895 and 150 flat base interlocks. I have both and it should do well for deer in the timber, without beating me up. Also helps keep the cost of ammo down. Got to get my pre 64 fwt 06 hunting again!

48 grs of H4895 and a 150 Interlock at 2800 fps will be very easy on the shoulder and blow a hole thru a white tail.

I shoot 180s Sierra game kings with 59.5 gr of hunter at 2860-2898 fps, Base to ogive 2.700. It’s a full house load. I might dial it down to 59gr.
I was on my last few rounds of the game kings, and have 200 of 180 Speer’s spritzer BT. I loaded them up same charge and same Base to give.
Forgot my tripod for the chronograph so I just flung some ammo down at 100 yards to see the difference.
I’m happy!

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Just finished working up a load for 2 different '06 rifles for a Colorado elk hunt. One Cooper Classic and one Winchester M70. Both preferred 58 grains of Hunter under a 180 grain TTSX. One inch 5 shot groups for each gun with that load

Old load still works good !

IMR 4064 is a universal powder for many cartridges as well as bullet weights, for those many rounds. IMR 4350, 7828 is temperature insensitive and is the only one in its line save the new power recently 4166. Over the years l found suitable powders for a few cartridges l load for. For awhile it was guess work, until l started to get tired of wasting time and money on components and trips to the range with loads that weren’t consistent. Along with a good recipe comes good loading techniques as well as a good platform to shoot from and shooting skills.

Found this chart

W-W brass, 60.5 grns H4350, Sierra 150 Game King and Federal 215 Magnum primer loaded to 3.2100” OAL. I don’t know what the velocity is but an 8 shot group made one big ragged hole @ 100 yds @88 degrees. This is a new rifle and this is the best load I have found so far. Everything else I have tried has been an inch or bigger. Going to try it on a whitetail first of November.
I’ll try to chrono it when I get a chance but it will just be for information. I don’t plan on changing it with the accuracy I’m getting.

150 Partition, 59 grains of IMR 4350. It has worked in many rifles for over 45 years.

I started at 58 grns and it was pretty good but I kept working my way up and when I hit 60.5grns it was like flipping a switch. Just glad I finally found something it likes. I was working up trying to see where I would find pressure signs but I’m not going any higher. Hogdon shows 62 gr as max but the 60.5 gr fits in the case without having to be compressed and giving me complete case fill.

I shoot that same load with Sierra 150 PH's. Shoots down close to 1/2" in a Sauer 101. The other week I tested it in a Rem 7600 shooting with the original irons on it and with my eyes and a blurry rear sight it put 3 at 1.25" at 100, 4 shot group was 1.75". Just installed a peep on it, that should make it easier.

I got a chance to chrono my H4350 load. 3004 fps corrected for distance to chrono. ES:14 SD:4 for 8 shots. 8 shot group. [Linked Image]

The bottom hole is from a different load. A little seating depth adjustment and it might tighten up more. I’ve never hunted with the Sierra bullets but everyone assures me they are good. They do seem to be accurate enough.

I’d think one of those 150 GKs in the ribs ain’t going to be good for any deer…

[Linked Image]Does anyone happen to have a Sierra load manual with the 150 game king load data? The Hodgdon site list 62 grns as max but with a different 150 grn bullet. TIA
Dialed in

I wouldn't worry about your 60.5 grain load of H4350 under that 150 grain Sierra.

Work up to it because it is on the warm side. I been shooting it in 85+ degree weather with high humidity so it should be good when it cools down some. Thanks for the replies.
