I’ve had guitars on and off since 12. I have two now but I can’t play either very well. My parents can both play. My mom can play guitar and piano. My dad guitar, piano and mandolin. My uncle collects and plays guitar and drums.

I can’t play any of it. Occasionally I get the urge to play but realize pretty quickly that it isn’t for me.

Musical instruments are like math IMO. Every teacher claims that anyone can learn. Learning the basics Vs. Learning to play well and really comprehending it are two completely different worlds.

I like to pick occasionally but that’s about it.

If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

There are a lot of talents I admire, especially those I don't have, which is pretty much all of them, and guitarists are at the top.

People who get in the truck and ride any distance with me are surprised by my music playlists, heavily guitar driven.

With the name I would have never guessed.

Have you read Ray Macdonald's book?

I just had a Johnson square neck ( dobro)follow me home. Storing it with the other things I can't play.
Music is an art, not science ( despite the logarithmic aspects of scale). It baffles me, but show me a machine and I can understand how and why.

If you can learn these chords (assuming standard tuning, I typically play a half-step down): G, D, C, A, E
You can probably play most recognizable songs.

Get your transitions ironed out and throw in Am, Bm, Em, and A sus 2, and you can diversify your sound.

Build up enough hand strength to play these barre chords: B, Bm, F, Fm and you’ll be a campground hero.

Keep those same chord shapes and get a capo = play pretty much any rhythm guitar piece. The capo changes the pitch of your strings to play in any key while using the same chord shapes.

All of these chords are played on the four frets closest to the nut or capo. No crazy transitions. It sounds like a lot, but you literally don’t have to move your hand anywhere, just your fingers.

Learn to play bass and you'll have your pick of gigs.

Of course, you'll still be stuck dealing with a bunch of emotional drama queens but hey, making music is fun!

I was trying to say that dealing with musicians is the hardest part about making music.

I am too cheap to pay for a Paul Reed Smith guitar, but my neigbor came into inheritance and bought one 25 years ago...very nice.

I have read they are not appreciating as fast as vintage Gibson and Fender, because fewer kids are getting into guitar music.

I have a PRS and like it very much. It’s a versatile guitar. But they are kind of polarizing for some reason.
