I may be in the market for a "midweight" puffy. I have a Kelvin Down hoody which is basically a down sleeping bag with arms. I'm looking for something a little less warm. Something for 1-3 hours sits in AM and PM when temps are in 20s to 30s. I run a bit on the cool side - but the Kelvin Down hoody is a bit much.

I've had the Kelvin Down Lite in my hand and was really unsure if it would work for my needs stated above. I am curious of those that have used the Kelvin Down Lite, what would you estimate the temp range is for this jacket under stationary conditions?

Thanks.

BTW: I moved from the Backpack.

I have both. For sitting for me, the Kelvin lite would be good to the 40ish range. Now if you put an insulated vest underneath the coat, then I think you could get in the 20/30 range.

Thanks. That was my exact assessment when I had it in my hand - high 30s/low 40s. I have an Ambient hoody - might could get down to high 20s with that set up. In the areas I hunt, in late Oct, early Nov, AM temps are teens/low 20s, evening is 20-30s. The Kelvin works but is way bulky, looking to streamline a bit.

Thanks.

I'd agree with wyosteve's assessment. The Kelvin Lite is in my normal layering system. I usually walk in cold to the stand in just a base merino and a traverse quarter zip on top. By the time I get my climber set up and anchored and pull on the remainder of my clothes, I'm quite warm. I usually aim to be set up and quiet an hour before sunrise. That residual heat will keep me warm n the Kelvin at 30-40 until sunrise. The thermal shift at sunrise makes me a little uncomfortable until the sun hits me. Much under 30 though, and I need the parka over top.
