A while back my gunsmith and I decided we would do 243 Winchester build for my daughter. He said he will retire in the next ten years or so . Time is of the essence and he isn't getting any younger. Well, after well over a year of purchasing all the parts, and scrimping and saving to get this project in gear, here she is. I was able to get my hands on an old Sako receiver (an L57 model). These were made from 1957-1959 so I doubt I will see another one any time soon. The stock blank is English Walnut and barrel came from Shilen rifles. My gunsmith said the safety on the receiver had "too much engagement" and needed to be worked on (whatever that means). He said he had to reset the firing pin about 0.020" of a inch so it would act properly. Hope you guys enjoy the pics. Here are some photos of this thing from start to finish. Isn't she a beauty?!

Nice rifle. It was especially nice to see the stock emerge from a giant hunk of lumber.

Feel free to share any other pics you have.

thank you, gents. Not sure why, but the last four links will not load. If you click on them, you can still view the pictures. It will take you to the Imgur website and you can view the images from there.

Unfortunately, I can't see the last 6 pictures, even the links aren't working but from what I can see she is a beaut. Your daughter should feel lucky to have such a good dad.
