Nice 17"er. Caught using 4lb test line on ultra light rod from shore. Caught 7 others in the 12"-14" range. Where I live we have a lot of gravel pits that have been turned over to local governments.

Funny you mention this…

Nice fish on thin line!!! That’s a real challenge… what lure?

I was out last night fishing a chain of gravel pit lakes turned park. I saw a couple of largemouth that were bigger than anything I’ve ever seen in Michigan.

I’m generally a river guy but my son in law took me to his panfish spot. Caught a green sunfish 1/4” short of master angler!

Yeah those reclaimed lakes are well worth fishing! Keep up the good work and post more pics!!

No lure. Just a good old fashioned night crawler on a #4 hook and a splitshot weight about 18" above. Nothing fancy.

Was back out yesterday at the same lake. Caught two large mouth bass, then to my surprise, I reeled in this nice smallie. Pound for pound the best fighting fish. Made my day as I hadn't caught one in years.

Nice smitty_bs!

The old gravel pits are great place to fish, no doubt!

Smallmouth are the best for sure. That’s an awesome spot you got there!
