I have a model 81 BLR in 243, that for sentimental reasons, I will never get rid of. However I have another 243 that is better suited for what I use it for. I would love to have a BLR in 358 and was wondering if anyone has ever rebored or rebarrelled a BLR

I have been trying to contact Z-hat for over a month on reboring a Winchester 1895 chambered in 270 to a 35 Whelen. I understand that they are very busy. If anybody is able to get a response from them, let me know. I think their spam filters are catching my emails. Somebody gave me their number, but I haven't been able to remember to call them at a decent hour.

Might give Dan Pederson a call at www.cutrifle.com , take look at his web site. I've had him do re-boring work for me and am most pleased with the results/accuracy.
Do good out there...

I OWN A BLR .358 WIN. AND IT'S A GREATE RIFLE. I AGREE WITH WOOFER, IT'S CHEAPER AND EASIER AND AN EXCUSE TO BUY A NEW RIFLE. KEEP YOUR BLR THE WAY IT IS FOR MANY REASON, THE 243 WIN. IS A GOOD CARTRIDGE FOR DEER SIZE GAME AND DOWN. CARTRIDGES ARE CHEAP AND MANY MOM AND POP STORE WILL HAVE A BOX OF 243 WIN. IN STOCK. HAVE YOU CHECK OUT WALMART THEY SELL BLR. 358. WIN. FOR $643.52 YOU CAN BUY IT INSTEAD OF PAYING FOR SHIPPING AND HANDLING AND WORK DONE ON YOU SENTIMENTAL RIFLE. IT'LL BE LIKE TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE.

Any reboring I found on recent attempt to get it done was pricey. A "new" 223 or 22-250 barrel would be a good way to go. BTW, Jesse Ocumpagh was the least expensive I found for rebore work.

Can testify, Jesse Ocumpagh dose exelent work. Had him re-bore a Win.94 30-30 to 38-55. Turned out great! Virgil B.

I had a BLR 81 rebored from .270 to .35 Whelen about 10 years ago. I was planning to use it on an elk hunt.
I sent it out to LaBounty, they got overwhelmed and it didn't come back for quite some time.
Only shot it once with factory ammo, accuracy was OK for hunting but one of these days I'll have to work up a better load.
