Hi folks,

I've been trying to sell a size medium Pennsylvania tuxedo jacket on gunbroker (86506545) for some time now with no bites. These used to be popular for hunting in the northeast, but apparently not anymore (or not by Men that can still fit into a size medium smirk ) I still wear my new one (a large), which gets me plenty of great stares out here in California, especially when I wear my matching hat with the fold-down earmuffs. I haven't hunted in the northeast (NH, specifically) in more than 20 years. What kind of outside attire are hunters wearing these days in the northeast? Don't tell me you all went "Land's End" out there. smirk

Here's a link:

Thanks,
Mike

I still have my dad's red and black plaid Woolrich coat. Unfortunately, the coat no longer fits, but I hang onto it just for the sentimental value. It's got to be 50 years old now, and oh, the stories that coat could tell if it could talk.......

Great coats, but with the blaze orange requirements, the red plaid is pass.

I haven't worn medium anything since I was 12 years old, though.

I couldn't wear it (zip it up) either, until I recently lost 35 lbs. smile

So wearing blaze orange is a requirement in some states now? Well, that would go along way to explaining the fall in popularity. I checked the woolrich site, and was surprised they didn't produce a blaze orange / black version. I'll have to ask them about that.

My Dad's jacket is the same way. Lots of history there. These woolrich jackets last forever, and are very quiet in the woods (no scraping or scratching noise when walking through underbrush).

Hold on to those. Woolrich doesn't make them anymore.

All said, the Savage 99 is a genius of a rifle. Although no longer produced, it remains highly revered, as it was the foundation from which Arthur Savage built one of America's great gun companies. >> (Jon Y. Wolfe) <<

We still have my grandfathers Woolrich pants. They're so old, they lace up at the bottom of the leg.

Besides the orange requirement, (easily met with a fleece vest) another reason is that the old Woolrich stuff got HEAVY when it got wet. You were warm, but darn tired and smelled like a wet sheep. Modern fabrics are lighter and waterproof.

Finally, most of the jackets I saw in the woods were heavier, with more pockets, and a more muted dark red/black plaid.

Good luck but I think you've got a tough sell on your hands.

Thanks for the link. Nice folks, from their site. I didn't see any blaze orange / black plaid jackets, though - just solid blaze orange. I'd like the plaid, because it breaks up the color and serves like camouflage.

I've got the Bemiji Woolen Mill coats in grey, red plaid, and orange all are about 20yrs or more older. My wife likes it when I wear them christmas shopping as she loads the game pocket full of gifts and doesn't have to carry anything. I've got the red paid hat and the grey woolen bibs. When I live back in MN they were sunday go to meeting clothes.
