I think most of these are coming with new CMP wood. The Greek returns I have from 10 years ago all had GI wood.

The Greek Returns are sweet.

These should be just a solid rifle w/o pitting, maybe a new Bbl. and most likely CMP wood.

But a Service Grade rifle none the less.

The Philippine Returns have been generally in poor condition, so it's good to see some SG rifles.

This would explain where all the Criterion Bbl's have gone.

I wish they would get another run of 30 carbines. But that is probably a pipe dream. Back when OBozo was in office South Korea and the Philippines tried to return thousands of them and the OBozo regime made them cut them in half through the actions and only took them back as scrap. That was probably the last chance for them other than the few they have on auction.

In today's market, for a shooter?

Yep - I don't care that they're mix-master or that it's a new barrel. I just wanted something to shoot and enjoy. I mean Cabela's has old Ruger MKII's on the used rack for 900 bucks. That rifle was 360 when I bought my first one so a couple hundred more for something as cool and historical as an M1 - I'm good with that.

It's supposed to be an IHC so post WWII - fine with me.

3-4 years ago I bought a CMP "Special" grade, strictly as a shooter. I didn't give a hoot about collectibility, I cared more about having the new Criterion barrel and Boyds stock. After bedding it and smoothing the trigger it'll plop 5 Sierra Matchkings into slightly over MOA which tickles me sh*tless. Actually the only frustrating experience I've had with it was occasional failure to feed, so I de-clipped all the ammo I had set aside for it and polished the clips with fine grade 3M pads, inside and out. New clips get the same treatment as a matter of course, and now it shucks ammo without a stutter.

I'd be happy to find some clips in stock. I ordered 25 of them from Creedmoor Sports but they're BO - we'll see when/if they come in.
