This is hilarious!

The news is acting like this is the end of the earth for the Northeast USA....

Welcome to what those of us on the West Coast deal with anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks, almost every summer...for the last 27 years I lived here....All BECAUSE the FOREST CIRCUS has this policy to "let it burn". We have places out here all over the place, where your can have 50 square miles being totally void of any standing timber, you can see from a mountain top, in all directions on other mountain tops up to 50 plus miles away... with no green standing timber.

back in 2004 we had the "Biscuit Fire" ( these dopey names come from the Forest Service), burn for 8 to 10 weeks. It burned out an area bigger than the size of the state of Connecticut.

Maybe you can get the Federal Government, making some demands of the Canadian Forest Service. Before 1980, the Western States didn't have massive fires like now.. because they made the Forest Service to get off their butts and put them out instead of this " let'em burn" to " renew " the forest.

Isn't all this smoke wonderful. Out here if you are out in it constantly, for every man, woman and child, they say it does enough damage to your lungs, as if you are smoking 7 cartons of cigarettes a day....and our Federal Government doesn't give a damn.. they want to renew the forest they say.. no, instead you ought to see the money they waste annually, just to keep it going...

Get on the phone to your senators, the White House Switch board ( 1.202.456.1414 and/or 1411. ), the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and the Canadian Embassy.

Last summer was the first in a number of years where we were not "smoked out" in north Idaho. We get the eastern Washington fires most but some local as well. Two years ago we did evacuate at stage 2 of 3.

I fought forest fires out west for decades (crew and Single Resource)... This smoke is mild or even insignificant by comparison.

But it is fun to watch the meltdowns in various eastern cities.

Some of the DC smoke was a Rainwater Landfill fire in Lorton, but that was missed by most of the media.

If you are not actively engaging EVERY enemy you encounter... you are allowing another to fight for you... and that is cowardice... plain and simple.

Big money in "fighting" wildfires. I've said it before the waste of taxpayer dollars and resources is criminal.

The mismanagement of our natural resources is criminal. When are we going to allow qualified people to manage our resources instead of the wack job Greenies?

The news acts like its the end of the earth when we get 6 inches of snow also, or if the temps drop below 10 degrees.

Lead story last night at 6:30 on ABC News with David Muir. And it was a five-minute story.

THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END IT IS SMOKY IN NEW YORK!

Towards the end of the piece, they admitted that, staying outside all day in Manhattan would equal smoking 1/2 pack of cigarettes. Not a big deal if you are rational.

And of course, they blamed it on climate change.

The management types in Forest Circus, Bureau of Lazy Men, etc are pumped out by liberal colleges. Not really foresters or range techs anymore.

Love it when people make wild ass guesses and thump their chest thinking they are genius.

Putting out every fire they could immediately created artificial fuel loading that wouldn't have naturally occurred. Up until around the 80s that was mitigated for the most part with widespread logging throughout the West. So they took away the logging and then put out every fire they could causing a huge growth of fuels since then. End result is more fires and increased intensity. The reason they HAVE to just "let it burn" now is to reduce those fuel loads as much as possible. Catastrophic fires aren't a new thing. Historically they would happen every 500 years or so, and over time the forests recover. Frequent low intensity fires used to occur naturally every 3-7 years that would kill undergrowth and small trees this keeping the vegetative species in check. So now yes the answer is more fire and logging. One is being stopped, the other can't be. If you have a way to just make trees and brush stop growing or reproducing you could be a millionaire. But then some leftist group would protest that.

A college professor here in Asheville says that smoke in our air is caused by Climate Change. That settles it!

wlos.com
At UNC Asheville, Dr. Evan Couzo specializes in atmospheric and environmental science. According to Couzo, what we are experiencing is the effect of a larger climate shift taking place.

“Even though it’s a nice, cool, breezy day here, and it just looks misty,” he said, “we’re experiencing the effects of climate change-induced wildfires.”

Couzo said changes in climate patterns will likely result in more large fires, in more locations, than before.

“So, a wildfire happening out west and thousands of miles away does have an impact on the health of people living in Asheville and the surrounding areas," Couzo said.

I live in Michigan along Lk. St. Clair past several days you can smell the smoke and it looks like a light fog....unreal that a forest fire 1000's of miles away affects the air....

Any way you look at it it's a shame all that wood being spent largely for nothing. Why not actually practice good management and clear brush and the actual fuel that starts and enhances these fires. Allow logging and harvesting wood for sale instead of watching it burn. As for the eastern seaboard; I feel for you guys that have to endure this but I'm happy to see the crazy leftist that control that part of our nation do a little coughing.

Exactly. Now with all the homes being built near this fire risk, firefighters must risk life and limb to protect these properties .

It's pretty thick here, but it's nothing like actually being directly down wind from a fire like what you guys out West have to go through. You've got to realize that we never have to go through this, so yes, the environmentalists are going to push their agenda and the world is coming to an end. There's one thing that's nice about it though, other than the smoke, we're having some really nice weather here. Low humidity, lows around 50*, and high temps in the upper 70's. It doesn't look like there's a cloud in the sky, but you really can't tell for sure because of the smoke.

One of the weather guys on a local station here, came out and said that it isn't just climate change, but it's Human Induced Climate Change.

I've got a question for you Canadians. What da hell y'all burnin up there anyway? It smells like burnt plastic or an electrical fire. grin

Check out this twitter link. It appears like multiple arsonists got this ball rolling.
