Great budget hunt and I can accommodate anywhere from 1 to 8+ hunters on these hunts depending on the ranch and how you would like to set it up.
DIY hunts are available but only a couple of spots left for this fall.
Semi guided hunts are available on several of our properties and I will discount larger groups or add more hunt time. Semi guided hunts are open this fall through
next Spring.
Check out the specifics and options here: https://www.westtexashunt.com/javelina-hunts.html

Happy Hunting

So what's the difference in hunting Javelina's vs the Garden Variety Pigs?

Javelinas are not actually swine but are large rodents, at least thats how a biologist explained it to me.

He explained it wrong, they are NOT rodents, but they are not swine either. They are in their own class of peccaries. In any event I'd rather eat rodents OR swine....but they are fun to shoot.

I grew up hunting Javelina in South Texas. They primarily feast on prickly pear cactus which gives their meat a sweet flavor. It's delicious. Very mild and lighter colored. I'd pick Javelina burger over beef burger any day of the week

friend of mine shot a javelina in his back yard one night when he lived by Lackland AFB. He butchered it and said the meat turned out very good

Javelina are native game and regulated where hogs are not.
If someone would like to put together a group hunt I would offer all campfire members a group rate for this fall or winter.

I would love to whack one with the long bow. A bucket list animal.

What's a more specific location for the hunt. Typical out of state fees, and your group rate for the hunt?

Non Residents only need the 5 day license which is $48 and over the counter. Youth license is only $6. Our season is year round in the area we hunt- far west Tx.
I have 2 different locations this hunt can be done at which is either Sierra Blanca Tx on 270,000 acres or down close to Terlingua Tx on 30,000 acres
right near Big Bend state park.

High desert hills, mountains, and flat land.

Sierra Blanca would be more of a bunk house open bed for lodging but is roomy, wifi, pool table, cooler, etc.
Agua Fria is remote and away from it all. 2 houses plus a cook house to split the group up, simple set up very scenic.

For a group of 9 to 10 people I will do a 3 day semi guided hunt for $700 each which will include a brunch + a dinner.
Ideally do this in the winter when its cooler. Mainly a safari style hunt and spot & stalking, this is not a blind/feeder or south Tx sendero type hunt.

Javelinas are made for the traditional bowhunter. Some of the best hunting there is, with a stickbow.

There is a season for them which is September 1st-August 31st where we hunt (year round). It is 2 Per license year for you bag limit. They can only be hunted in daylight hours- I have had half a dozen people ask if they could night hunt them which is not legal to do. I do offer Hog hunts and night hunting for them if that is what you would like to do.
