I carry 2 when driving tractors.
1911 45 acp and an AR in .223. Got a couple of mags extra for each in the cab.
I figure I have snakes, coyotes, hogs, drug traffickers, and hostile wetbacks covered...
Same here. An AR Carbine and a Glock instead of a 1911.
No telling how many hogs and coyotes I’ve killed out of a tractor over the years.
And when I run over a rattlesnake with the tractor, I stop and get out with my pistol and make sure the SOB is Dead Dead Dead ! 🤠

I imagine those Savage combination shotgun/rifle guns would be ideal for handling a variety of problems.

Anyone ever shoot something off a tractor or such? I’ll start. A coyote from a no-cab swather. Recurve.

Dad used to carry an SKS in his tractor. Until I gave him my Savage Combo gun in 20ga / 357 mag.
He liked that better as the rifle barrel fired the same round as the Ruger Blackhawk he carried on his hip.

Depends on the season. Coyote season, heavy barrel bolt action .223. Easy to shoot out the window. It's warmed up now and we are in seagull season. They will follow the machinery and eat baby chicks. It's illegal to shoot them but I use a shotgun to scare them away. (one day I scared at least a half dozen away)

Stainless synthetic 10/22 with a red dot. Or some sort of carbine 9, 357, 22 mag, 223. Terrain and animals pending. Good luck
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

A 32H&R with shot shells or wadcutters does all i need. No cab.. Check out Quick Fist for mounting a long gun in your tractor. They work well for toting a shovel and a pitch fork too. Available in several sizes. I used magnets to mount them on the FEL arms.

Yeah, while scaring them away, accidents can happen.
Collateral damage is a fact of life.
