When I was a kid I visited him at his home on the Salmon River. I remember the place more than the man on the actual trips as the place was extremely cool for a kid. I ended up learning more about him in between trips. He was definitely a character.

I have that same book about Buckskin Billy, it's a great read. We were always going to have Dave Giles run us down to 5 Mile Bar to visit him but some how we never got past Latzn Bar, too bad.

Reading the book right now, got it from local library. (Elk City)Very interesting since I live in the area.
Another great read is Snow Bound by Ladd Hamilton. I couldnt hardly put that one down !! Hunting story in Lolo pass area! Get it !
