Hard to beat a M15 Smith. You cannot beat the combat masterpiece!

M10-8 This one sees a steady diet of 158 XTPs. Mainly because I have a chit ton of them. What knife is that?

It’s actually just a cheap Gerber that I caught on sale at Academy Sports for 19.99. Bought a few of them. Really nice blade for the money.

The Colt Dik special serial number F40740 I think is a 1974 and the 15-2 Combat Masterpiece serial number K691721 I think is a 1966.

Depending on planned use, impossible to beat an Officers Model Match or a New Service. From the days of handmade.

38s? 15 or 67. Really the modern S&Ws are quite acceptable if you can get over the some of the non traditional stuff. Even the 2 piece barrel 66s are accurate and tough as nails. 38spl is an awesome cartridge. Blasphemy, you are going to anger Boomers with safes full of vintage S&W revolvers. They luv: extra screws in frame, pinned one piece barrels, recessed chambers, no lock, no MIM. Personally I do not care, because S&W MIM parts do not break and harmless lock hole can be plugged or covered with larger cylinder release for $50 or less. I have a safe full of vintage S&Ws as well. Love‘em in fact but also haven’t had many problems with new ones as well. Many don’t realize how much hand fitting went into their “vintage” guns. Which made them awesome. I'm right there with you, smallfry. Pay no attention to slapit/maser.

Colt double actions are smooth and Pythons are about the handsomest double action revolvers made, but I do not care for the cylinder release.

I have not read this whole thread. so pardon me if it is a repeat. best day and age I would buy a 357 to use for a 38 just if no other reason the option of using 357 , 38 plus P's and resale value. I love my little 3-in barrel Ruger SP101... very accurate, just heavy enough there's no recoil with regular 38's ... now full speed .357 's 125's seem to kick way worse than full speed 158's

I haven't read the whole thread either. I have a J frame Airweight with a shrouded hammer that I bought from my senior partner one day. He said he bought it new, mail order, from Abercrombie and Fitch back in the 1950's. Ha, love that little gun. If I was to go buy one, I would seek out a Diamondback probably.

Yes. A model 38 like this: That's an early one. You can tell by the flat cylinder release latch and diamond patterned checkered grips. Both features were dropped in the early 1960s.

The number inside frame and yoke is an assembly / factory work # and only used to keep fitted parts together inside the factory. Book show .38 Special Hand Ejector M&P 1915-1942 serial number range 241704-700000. A good guess for yours would be 1939-1941, you would need to request/purchase a factory letter from S&W if you wanted to know when it shipped from factory and who it was sold to.

Model 15. Mine has been a fantastic firearm. Model 14 if you want the six inch barrel. Model 10 if you want fixed sights.
