I’ve had mine for about a year and have been pleased. I had two incisions about 3- 4” long, one for the generator behind my left hip and the one along the spine where the doc implanted the lead. Recovery was no heavy lifting for a while and no bending at the waist. My back will act up some if I overdo it but as I sit here there’s no pain. You can have the generator put on either side so if you carry a pistol at your 4:00, they can put it behind the left hip. Lots of info on Al Gore’s internet. 😊

Mine has three programs that you control with an app on your Iphone. The intensity of the programs is also controlled via your phone. The program might be something like 20 seconds on, three minutes off and it does that continuously unless you turn it off.

You’ll have a rep that helps set it up and shows how to operate it. They’ll set the limit of the intensity so you can’t damage anything. Mine told me to try the different programs and intensity settings and to not be afraid to switch it around. With mine, if I set the intensity at its max and I’m not doing anything, sometimes I can just barely feel it when it comes “on”.

One of my younger brothers was having back problems. We talked about it a couple of times and he decided to get one too. He’s been really happy with his.

Never heard of it. I’ll have to research that. I live with back pain every damn day.

I did the trial, it didn't help me. I'll be trialing one of the pulsed units from Abbot next.

I’ve got a couple more surgeries ahead of me and I’m young enough to build a high pain threshold so I’m hoping for a technological-medical miracle by the time I’m in my mid-60’s which is roughly 15 years away.

Gnarly! Sounds like a TENS unit on steroids.

In the complexity that is lower back pain, nothing works for everybody, while some thing almost always works for somebody. Surgery may fail or isn’t always appropriate or indicated. Or desired.

As navlav8r indicated, it is sometimes a successful option. And it’s not nearly as invasive as typical lower back surgeries.

I've been pushing for one but Humana denied me twice now. I'm at my wits end with this lower back pain. I almost wish they'd just open me up and look around because surely whatever is wrong would have to be obvious with the pain I'm always in.

Apropos of nothing in general my brother had severe back pain for quite awhile, but his was kidney cancer. They removed one but managed to rebuild the other enough to get it functioning. He's a happier man now. It's been some time.

My thoughts exactly, they use to Sell TENS units back in the late 80s.

They worked quite effectively.
