I'd have gone avocado oil myself due to the smoke temp.

Grapeseed oil works well for seasoning things too..... and a little cheaper than avocado oil.

Keep the temperature down.

Another High Smoke Point Oil is Sunflower Seed Oil, been using it for years, but switched to Grapeseed Oil because of the posters' great results and recommendations here.

Well the olive oil worked just fine, it seasoned pretty easy actually.

I’m jealous. Building a garage at the cabin that’s going to serve double duty as summer kitchen. First thing going in it is a griddle. Well, second thing, first is a beer fridge.

Jack I can see this thing being a ton of fun and very useful outside. I might try some Halibut tonight on it.

Would starting out by gently cooking a load of bacon have worked?

It's what I did MM !

Low temp, to fully render, a pile of streaky bacon.

** Sorry, brain fart, it was my second seasoning & first cook, originally seasoned with grapeseed oil.
