25-5 #18494276 06/10/23 Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 4,317 Anchorage, AK C cwh2 OP Campfire Tracker OP cwh2 Campfire Tracker C Joined: Dec 2005 Posts: 4,317 Anchorage, AK I got a chance to grab a S&W model 25 in 45 colt. Really kind of blew up the gun "budget", but I couldn't say no.

Much cheaper to plink with than a .45 Colt chambering, and you can both load and purchase specialty loads that are plenty stout, should the need arise.

I’m sure you will enjoy it. I have a 25-5 with a 6” barrel, I wish it was a 4”, but it shots well and I do enjoy it.

Both platform and caliber make the 25-5 a real candidate for best all around hunting/shooting revolver. I have killed gophers to big game with mine…

It has the dreaded large throats but shoots very well with 255gr SWC coated and sized too .454 with 8gr of Unique. That is pretty much all I shoot in it now.
