Does the content on Google Street View of your home and belongings bother you? I don't find it to be of major concern but I'm not really fond of it either. It's the snoopers and the tax guys even a stalker if you got one that can case some homes out pretty well with what's visible with Street View. I decided to check into 'opting out' of Street View just to see how it's done. It's simple, just a few mouse clicks and you're out of view. One of my homes was really visible, front and back on Street View so I decided I'd test that one. This had absolutely nothing to do with me replacing a shingle roof with a metal roof without a permit, nothing at all. When I opted out, this is what changed. The Street View image basically went from this... To this... Pretty cool huh? If you want your home to look like a fuzzy unidentifiable image do this. When viewing your home, you'll see in the lower right hand corner of the Street View screen a 'Report a Problem' tab. You can see it in the images I just posted, click it and this screen appears... Then do the obvious. You have to give them a email address after which either in a pop-up screen or a confrontation e-mail they will ask you if 'you're sure' you want to do this because it can never be undone, it's permanent. That's it, all done, have a good weekend....

That's not going to effect what I'm speaking of.
Never used that app or even heard of it before.
I just use the Street View feature on Google Maps.
The feature won’t be removed from the standard Google Maps app.

It's good that you can do that. I'm not sure why anyone would want a pic of their place online like that.
They would need permission to get a pic of my house.
And that would be a nope

And that would be a nope Not if it's in general view when Google car drives by, puts everything on the maps. If it's seen from their pov, deemed to be public. No permission needed. If not, wouldn't be on the maps anyway.

And that would be a nope Bet you find one at your county assessor. And they don’t need your permission.

And that would be a nope You sweet child of summer, where in heavens did you get the notion they needed your permission? If your home can be seen from public roads or from space, they have a photograph of it.

If your home can be seen from public roads or from space, they have a photograph of it. And updated fairly well. They haven't cataloged every road but more than most of the roads, in most countries. But they sure do have the satellite images of the entire globe. They don't need or ask for permission because you can 'opt out' if you don't like it, and that's what this post is about. It's hard to believe that everyone hasn't typed their own address into Google Maps to see what pops up, but I suppose there could be some.

Banned the nosy bastids who place spyware, trackers and who knows what other sh*t for the alphabet agencies. Plus I don’t worry about it due to the fact that my county assessor has a picture up there, Zillow allows you to use satellite view plus about 6 or 7 other places. Fugg Google

They can't do a street view of my house; I am way up on the mountain. All they get is a good pic of my mailbox.

I'm still hoping to see the google car with enough time to get all my clothes off before it gets to my place.

It nor the barns are visible from the county right of way (unimproved road) used for ingress / egress. So yes, they would need permission (unlike the tax man, lol) for a street level view of the house. And if it were feasible, I'd have it blurred out. Which BTW, is what this thread is about.
